Grizzly’s senior management team has the vision, skill-sets and specific oil and natural gas industry experience required to:
- Carry out the Company’s strategy of being a full-cycle oil sands project developer and operator;
- Achieve operational excellence;
- Develop and execute the innovative ARMS SAGD facility model;
- Maintain safe and environmentally responsible operations; and
- Create value for shareholders.
The management team’s experience covers all phases of oil sands exploration and development.
Serge Bisson, CPL.
Mr. Bisson joined Grizzly in June 2011, as Land Manger overseeing land, community relations, environment and regulatory. In 2013 he was appointed to the position of Director Land reflecting his contribution to the company’s growth and increased operations. In May 2015, Serge was named Grizzly’s President.
Mr. Bisson brings over 16 years of varied experience most recently with a senior independent North American producer. Mr. Bisson held increasingly more senior roles in regulatory jurisdictions throughout North America, including leading the development of Shale portfolio’s in the Eastern United States. Mr. Bisson received his education in Energy Economics and Commerce from the University of Calgary and the University of Saskatchewan. He is an active member of both the Canadian Association of Petroleum Landman and the American Association of Petroleum Landmen.
Mathew Trickey, P.Eng.
Vice President, Operations & Engineering
Mr. Trickey was appointed Vice President, Operations and Engineering in May 2015. He joined Grizzly in June 2011, holding previous roles as the Director of Operations and Engineering Manager. Prior to joining Grizzly, he held senior professional positions with a Canadian oil sands producer, and international roles with major petrochemical and mining corporations in Australia, Europe and the Middle East.
Mr. Trickey holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Chemical) from the University of Newcastle, and the designation of professional engineer.
Glen Perry, B.Sc.
Vice President, Marketing
Mr. Perry joined Grizzly in October 2012, bringing with him nearly 40 years’ experience in energy industry marketing and business development. Prior to joining Grizzly, Mr. Perry was President of Altex Energy, a pioneer in the development of independent crude-oil-by-railway shipping out of western Canada. From 2001 to 2005, Mr. Perry was President of Westpac Terminals, a liquefied natural gas developer planning to import natural gas into Prince Rupert, B.C.
Before that, Mr. Perry was President of the Alliance Gas Pipeline Limited Partnerships. Prior to starting Alliance, Mr. Perry was employed in several Calgary-based companies, including Unocal (coal, oil, natural gas and power), Direct Energy Marketing (natural gas), Dome Petroleum (oil, natural gas, NGL and petrochemicals) and Foothills Pipelines (natural gas pipeline). Mr. Perry earned a B.Sc. in Mathematics from the University of Calgary in 1974.
Derek Lee, P.Geol.
Exploration & Geoscience
Mr. Lee has nearly 40 years’ exploration and development experience, and has focused on the Athabasca oil sands since 1997. Prior to joining Grizzly, Mr. Lee was Director, Subsurface Technology Development for Suncor Ltd. and Petro-Canada, where he had responsibility as a business leader for research and development of in situ technology and new project development.
Mr. Lee has a proven track record in finding and developing oil sands deposits, including at MacKay River, Hangingstone/Meadow Creek, Lewis and Chard.
